Rolling with the punches....
No pictures in this post as we all look pretty scary right now due to total exhaustion!! Our trip started out leaving the house at 4:30am to get to the airport for our flight to Chicago. All was going well and we had boarded our flight from Chicago to Shanghai about 30 minutes late but the plane finally taxied out and we were about ready to go. Delay after delay with no explanation other than some paperwork mistake around maintenance and suddenly we were headed back to the gate. Flight cancelled!! Three hours wasted. That left only a couple hundred people in line trying to rebook. Yikes!! In our first attempt at working it out with the airline they had us going some crazy route through Dallas and Japan - something in the neighborhood of four flights. Thankfully our travel agent talked us through it over the phone and we were scheduled on an overnight flight to Beijing. With the time change we arrived in Beijing just after midnight and had about a four hour stay at the hotel (thank goodness for a shower!!) before we headed back for the airport to finally be on our way to Emma's province.
We are here now and trying our best to stay awake!!! Our guide is awesome and she has actually been spending time with Emma at the orphanage so she was able to tell us a lot about her!!! Only 24 hours until we finally meet her!!
